Job Description

Volume Integration is seeking a DevOps Engineer. The ideal candidate will work in a small team environment to provide a tailored data hosting and dissemination platform within a cloud based architecture. The preferred candidate will work in a small team environment utilizing Agile methodologies and DevOps practices to provide a tailored data hosting and dissemination platform within a cloud based architecture. This position will be part of an integrated team that is focused on continuous improvement of the DevOps posture. The team ethos is to produce innovation and creative solutions that add value to our service, support, and delivery.

Within a small team environment, you will have the opportunity work across multiple task categories of System Administration, DevOps Engineering, Systems Engineering, Architecture Design, Application Development, ETL Engineering, Database Engineering, Testing, and Network Engineering.


  • Support efforts for a customized platform with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) that is integrated with commercial (COTS) tools and applications.

  • Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance for AWS Container Ecosystems.

  • Implement automated unit and integration testing.

  • Interact with varying organizational levels and structures to provide customer focused service, support, and delivery.

  • Assist with evaluation of software and hardware activities: requirements, design, development, documentation, integration, test, verification and validation.

  • Collaborate on proposed security architectures and designs for compliance of security policy requirements.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a combination of related work experience, technical training, and professional certifications.


  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience for software development or DevOps in a cloud environment.

  • Practical experience with designing, developing and testing complex software systems.

  • Extensive experience with software engineering and the software development lifecycle.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using RESTful APls.

  • Practical experience with software development and deployment tools such as Bamboo, Docker, Git, Gradle, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Maven, Nexus, and/or Spinnaker.

  • Experience with distributed cross-platform applications, orchestration and security.

  • Demonstrated ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals via formal and informal briefings and technical exchange meetings.

  • Experience working with large data volumes that required highly performant code.

  • Experience with libraries used to read and write structured data (XML, JSON, CSV, etc.).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) DevOps Professional certification or other AWS Certifications at the Professional or Associate Level.

  • Demonstrated experience with Java, Python, and one or more of Bash, JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, React, Vue, XML, etc.

  • Advanced writing skills: able to clearly articulate ideas for executive level leadership and technical staff.

  • Experience with Atlassian tools to plan, track, and manage work.

  • Ability to formulate/define specifications, and develop/modify/maintain/integrate complex systems and subsystems.

  • Exposure to relational, NoSQL and/or file-based storage (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Oracle, Postgres, etc.).

Clearance Level:
Active TS SCI With Polygraph Clearance

Will primarily be in the Reston, VA area with some Chantilly as well as the project progresses.
