Arcadia is a technology company revolutionizing the energy industry. We make choosing clean energy easy for everyone, no matter where you live or who your utility provider is. Founded in 2015, Arcadia set out with one purpose that continues to drive us today: a 100% clean energy future.

Tackling one of the world’s biggest challenges – climate change – requires out-of-the-box thinking and diverse perspectives, so we’re building a team of individuals from all different backgrounds, industries, and educational experiences. If you share our passion for building a future powered by 100% renewable energy, we look forward to receiving your application and learning what you would uniquely bring to our organization!

What we’re looking for:

We are seeking a mission-driven Campaign Director to join the Policy and Market Development team in the fight against climate change. This individual will manage advocacy campaigns to create community solar programs in new states. The ideal candidate has a resume full of successful legislative advocacy campaigns and is a familiar face with state policymakers and energy industry stakeholders.

Arcadia is committed to leading the fight to expand community solar across the country. This role builds on success that Arcadia has already had, such as creating new community solar programs in Virginia and New Mexico and defending the existing program in Maine. The Campaign Director will be expected to deliver measurable market growth quickly, so the strongest candidates will be people who have worked in fast-moving environments with high expectations.

This role is based in Washington, DC, although other locations would be considered for particularly strong candidates. This role will report to the Vice President of Policy and Market Development. Additionally, the Campaign Director will collaborate frequently with peers on the policy team and colleagues on the community solar business development team.

What you'll do:

  • Plan and implement successful campaigns to create new community solar policies that lead to new business opportunities for Arcadia.
  • Hire and manage a team of consultants with state-specific relationships and experience.
  • Build coalitions with existing and new partners who are aligned in support of community solar.
  • Directly advocate for Arcadia with state policymakers.
  • Represent Arcadia in local media, in coordination with Arcadia’s marketing team.
  • Deploy Arcadia’s members as grassroots advocates.
  • Anything else that will expand community solar - really, we want you to use every advocacy tool you can imagine to support our business.

What will help you succeed:

Must-haves:

  • Experience leading successful campaigns to pass new state laws, particularly for policies that disrupt incumbent industries.
  • Experience hiring and managing consultants and associated budgets.
  • Hands-on experience with all of the tools in the “advocacy toolbox” - direct lobbying, public relations, building coalitions, technical expertise, public speaking, and much more.
  • A hunger to be on the ground and visible in the places where you’re leading campaigns - this job will have significant travel (when health and safety conditions permit, of course).
  • Strong attention to detail. You will be writing and negotiating complex statutory and regulatory language, and need to be absolutely certain that all of it is what’s best for Arcadia.
  • A team-first mindset. This is not a job for a lone wolf, and will require daily - even hourly - collaboration with colleagues across the company.
  • Experience in the clean energy and technology industries.

Nice-to-haves:

  • A deep set of contacts in states that don’t have community solar today, particularly in the midwest and southeast.
  • Experience in state government, especially in a relevant state.

Benefits:

  • Market-based compensation (salary + equity)
  • Healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k), and commuter benefits
  • Paid Time Off (holidays, vacation, professional development, volunteer, parental leave)
  • Professional development opportunities
  • All-company lunches
  • Free clean energy
  • A chance to decarbonize and disrupt the energy sector
Eliminating carbon footprints, eliminating carbon copies.
