About the Position
The Compliance Manager will perform a key risk management role to ensure business lines and corporate initiatives comply with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., SEC and stock exchange rules, applicable corporate laws, privacy laws, FCPA, SOX and information security) and corporate policies (e.g., Insider Trading Policy, Ethics Policy). The Compliance Manager will apply risk, process management, and analytical skills to drive actions in support of compliance objectives for the Legal department and impacted business lines. The Compliance Manager will be responsible for delivering quality results and providing sound compliance advice to business lines. A successful Compliance Privacy Manager will be a highly motivated, forward thinking self-starter who can work autonomously, is quick to adapt, technologically adept, a problem solver, and an adaptive learner.

About the Legal Team
Join the growing FiscalNote legal team as you help chart the course for the Company’s next phase of growth. You will work closely with the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel – Corporate & Securities, other Legal Department personnel and the Company’s senior leadership team to provide advice and support on a variety of important compliance matters. FiscalNote is a rapidly expanding company, with complex compliance needs both in the U.S. and internationally, providing a rich environment for a compliance professional to take on a strategic role in implementing a mature compliance program.

About You
You are driven, super-organized and approach your work with a growth-mindset. You are skilled at distilling complex compliance requirements into clear, actionable principles to a wide variety of audiences and business contexts, including engineering, finance, HR and executive leadership. You have experience working in a wide variety of compliance environments and understand how to efficiently expand compliance programs to incorporate multiple frameworks and multiple products.

What To Expect In This Position:
  • Work directly with the Associate General Counsel – Corporate & Securities to advise the business and various corporate functions on a wide array of legal, regulatory and compliance matters applicable to the Company, including SEC and stock exchange rules, applicable corporate laws, privacy laws, anti-corruption / anti-bribery laws, Sarbanes-Oxley and information security matters
  • Support the development, implementation and periodic review / updating of corporate policies
  • Coordinate cross-functional compliance or risk management processes with HR, Accounting, Finance, IT and various other teams throughout the organization, including the Company-wide risk register and burgeoning enterprise risk management program
  • Support corporate governance and shareholder matters and other corporate transactions and projects as requested from time to time by the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel

  • What Sets You Apart:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; J.D. or Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience preferred in a compliance field
  • In-house experience with a high-growth, dynamic company, a plus; Tech (SaaS), Information Services and/or Media industry experience preferred
  • Background in privacy laws (including GDPR/CCPA) preferred
  • Motivation to learn and take on responsibility for managing multiple disparate areas of compliance and risk
  • Experience working with and advising senior business leaders
  • International experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative, inclusive nature and team-player attitude
  • Exemplary verbal, writing and presentation skills
  • A high degree of diligence, attentional detail and organizational skills
