As a Data Engineer at U.Group, you will be joining a team of data professionals that focus on expanding and optimizing data warehousing and pipeline architectures. You will be working collaboratively to design, develop, and optimize data flow and collection with a cross functional team to deliver cutting edge data solutions to U.Group customers. You will use your data wrangling and pipeline building skills to optimize data systems or build new data ecosystems from the ground up. Your team will include fellow data scientists, visualization experts, and architects all working towards maturing and expanding U.Group data solutions.
Key Objectives: Objective 1: Develop, support, and optimize relational databases, SQL queries, and Python-based tools that access those databases. Optimize a broad range of SQL queries to increase query speed and reduce processor cost. Revise relational database schemas to support faster querying by production services. Improve, build, test, and deploy Python services that leverage these queries in support of larger applications. Analyze data structures, data stores, and databases to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Document schemas, data models, and data dictionaries that support these services. Objective 2: Plan, strategize, and develop data ecosystems that utilize cloud computing, large data sets, data pipelines, and modern data warehouse methodologies Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture for large datasets to design data warehouse solutions Assemble large, complex data sets to do a variety of data types including unstructured, structured, semi-structured, relational datasets, etc. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics Ensure good data governance practices are being employed to ensure data awareness, high data quality, and data freshness Build and optimize processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management for modern cloud computing. Monitor and successfully troubleshoot data warehouse and data pipeline issues Objective 3: Collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams which include data scientists, experience designers, engineers, project management, and customer stakeholders Create data tools for analysts and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader Support efforts of fellow data scientists, engineers, visualizers, and architects Collaborate directly with customers to problem solve and prototype potential solutions based on defined requirements Communicate data modeling concepts and entity relationships to peers and customer partners Objective 4: Provide Subject Matter Expertise as it relates to team growth, business development activities, and solution strategy development Work with stakeholders including the Data, Product, Program, and Executive teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs Consistently report status of work to project and account management Provide expert opinion and knowledge to project and account management, as well as business development efforts Mentor and guide junior data engineers to assist them in growing and learning new skills U.S. Citizenship required
