About the Role

Caribou is looking for a Senior Manager of Media Relations to build and manage the Company’s public media strategy and programs. As a member of Caribou’s Communications Team, you will report to the Director of Corporate Communications and work closely with colleagues in marketing as well as across all lines of business to ensure the media strategy is brought to life.

The Senior Manager of Media Relations will:

  • Work with the Director of Corporate Communications to build and manage the Company media strategy, including proactive outreach to local, national and industry media outlets
  • Develop communications programs and media relationships that result in favorable and targeted earned media coverage
  • Build talking points, editorial calendars, press releases, communications plans, Q&A documents, tracking reports and other media tools while maintaining Company press room
  • Interface directly with company spokespersons and the media, with the ability to serve as Company spokesperson as needed
  • Have experience in media training members of the team, including company executives
  • Have a strong grasp on media tracking tools and reporting
  • Be experienced in managing crisis and issues through sound communications strategies that protect company reputation
  • Keep pulse on industry and competitor activity

This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC; Denver, CO; Austin, TX. Alternatively, the role may be based remotely within the U.S. This role requires attendance at occasional in-person team meetings. Caribou currently requires that all personnel and visitors to any of its offices are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. As a result, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be eligible for this position (subject to any exemptions or accommodations due to medical or religious reasons).

About You

The ideal candidate has a track record of garnering target placements while building and maintaining critical media relationships, preferably at a high-growth technology company. The position has high company visibility with responsibilities including regular interaction with C-level executives and understanding the nuances of working relationships with media.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in media relations or equivalent
  • Experience working at or with high-growth technology company
  • Strong analytical and relationship building skills with the ability to communicate well with media and other external stakeholders
  • Desire to work on a team and collaborate with external vendors, but also possess the ability to be a self-starter and individual contributor
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple intricate and coinciding media opportunities and projects
  • Understand importance of deadlines and convey sense of urgency
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong executive presence
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
