Stardog, the leading Enterprise Knowledge Graph platform, turns data into knowledge to power more effective digital transformations. Industry leaders including Bayer, Bosch, eBay, NASA, and Raytheon use Stardog to create a flexible data layer that can support countless applications. One of Fast Company's prestigious Most Innovative Companies, Stardog is a fast-growing venture-backed company headquartered in Arlington, VA with a globally distributed team.
"What does it look like" is one of the first questions people ask when they first learn about the knowledge graph. Ultimately, the real answer to that is a purpose-built UX for the use case. But to get there, you have to answer that first basic question.
We're looking for someone to help us build applications to show off what we call the "art of the possible" and blaze a path to "wow" for people learning about knowledge graphs for the first time.
You will work as part of a multi-functional team creating and maintaining purpose built assets to help people see what's possible with Stardog. You will interface with prospects and the pre-sales team to understand the kinds of challenges enterprises face and how the hope to solve with them. You'll work to understand their use case, collect requirements, and create a compelling application to take them from power point promises to the first steps of a real solution.
You will be a part of the front-end engineering team and will also work closely with the Engineering and Product teams as these efforts will invariably translate into new product features, or entirely new products.
To be successful in this role, you should have an engineering background, and be comfortable building a front-end application. We work with Typescript using React, so we're expecting you to be familiar with those technologies. Better yet if you're familiar with Webpack, Redux, and Node.
If you have experience with one of the major public clouds, preferably AWS, that's a huge plus. The environments running these application will need to be built and maintained, and that will be part of your responsibility.
Ideal candidates have an art or design background, or experience understanding and building user experiences. The applications you will build need to have enough visual impact to wow their users and help them understand what's possible. You'll often be translating difficult issues and requirements into these preview applications, so all the more reason to be thoughtful in the design process.
Finally, you'll often be working in new domains and with new technologies. We expect you to be able to get up to speed quickly, both with our tech stack, but also with that of our users. You'll also often need to translate vague requirements into specific, working designs.
Our culture is based on engineering excellence, mutual respect, collegiality in all things, rigor in design, research, implementation, and testing. We care deeply about work-life balance and productivity in the short and long run. In sum, if you remove the unnecessary, the distracting, and the tedious, what you're left with is a healthy 40 hour week full of wins.
