Due to tremendous growth, WireWheel is looking for an innovative and hands-on Software Engineering Manager to join our team. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of software engineers to build features for our data privacy application, driving every stage of the feature's lifecycle from requirements to release. In this role, you will collaborate daily with other managers, software developers, testers, UX, DevOps, product managers, and cross-functional teams to make sure that we meet customer needs and create the most valuable features.

The WireWheel engineering team builds and supports a web-based platform that enables companies to run their privacy programs. We are a small, growing team in a true start-up environment. As a team, we move fast, adapt to the needs of the business, and ship quality software frequently. SCOPE:

  • Remove roadblocks for your team while avoiding being one.
  • Coach your team with timely and regular feedback and continually provide opportunities for professional growth.
  • Lead team ceremonies including stand-ups, retrospectives, design reviews, etc. providing context on what we are doing and why.
  • Identify and drive areas of improvement (organization, process, and/or technology).
  • Ensure that engineers craft production-quality code using standard development methodologies.
  • Drive quality improvements in the code base by championing the prioritization of automated testing, thoughtful feature designs, and architectural improvements.
  • Coordinate customer issues and drive internal, cross-team communications for the development team as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Several years of experience managing remote or distributed software developers at various stages of their careers.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and a strong desire to learn and grow and the ability to adapt and flex to take on different challenges.
  • A technical background where you have written software or written software that tests software in a professional setting.
  • Worked in environments where software ships on a very regular basis.
  • Experience leading teams that develop containerized services deployed to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of management fundamentals, development methodologies, and processes.
  • A passion for creating quality software that will help protect private data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to create clear and concise written communications.
